This is the last of the movable bridges on the South Branch of the Chicago River that still yields powerful views of the downtown skyline. The view to the northeast "upriver" (the South Branch flows in reverse towards the Sanitary & Ship Canal) reveals the Canal Street Bridge and the twin towers of the railroad lift bridge in the distance.
